Exercise

Effective, efficient exercise tips for ‘normal’ people who don’t have hours every day to spend on perfecting their bodies.

Exercise is the cornerstone of any healthy human being. Regular exercise not only does wonders for one’s body, it also serves to keep you mentally fit and alert and a happier person. Here are some fun, exciting exercises which engage all the muscle groups and strengthen and tone your body, without forcing you work out for hours every day.

I’ve been working out for years, with very different aims in mind. At one point I was an athlete, representing my country in basketball, later on I was a personal trainer and keen amateur runner, and even later, following a few years in a sedentary job, I once again had to gain the fitness I once had. Anything I recommend here has been tried and tested, and if I didn’t like it, I’ll say so.

I will also be recommending certain sports equipment which I myself regularly use and trust, as well as comparing home gyms to ‘regular’ gyms. I’ll list excellent fitness-related mobile phone apps, share motivation tips and work out schedules to suit any lifestyle, let you know all about my barefoot running adventure, from shoes, to correct running form and what to look for if you’re starting out with barefoot running.

Exercise

When compared to the rest of the world gym memberships are not that expensive in Malta. However, I have often wondered whether it would be a worthwhile investment to set up a home gym instead of paying for a gym membership.  The reason these thoughts have crossed my mind is because my time is really [...]

Putting pressure on the big toe

As you may have read in a couple of my last posts, since reading the book ‘Born to Run’ I have become somewhat obsessed with barefoot running and my personal running form. Over the past two weeks I have done a couple of outdoor runs and have not been convinced with my Pumas or my [...]

Cycle while you work

Bikes

I’m willing to bet that you either have an exercise bike which you never use or never bought one because you were sure you’d end up never using it. Well, I had that problem; an expensive exercise bike which I’d bought when recovering from a bad injury and needed ‘soft’ exercise as part of my [...]

Are you warrior dash worthy?

Exercise

I’m pretty late on the uptake here, but a couple of weeks ago I learned about Warrior Dash from a friend of mine in Australia. I was extremely curious. It looked fun, challenging and exciting. So what is a Warrior Dash? Warrior Dash was launched in 2009 in the States. It is a 5 kilometer course [...]

After reading ‘Born to Run’ (read my review), I have been really excited about testing myself and checking out my own running form. I was taught at a young age to run heel to toe, so I knew that as soon as I videoed myself I would see some interesting facts about my form. Here [...]

Exercise
weight-loss-food-main_full-543x439

Have you ever invested plenty of time and money into exercise not to see any physical results? I have: played hours of basketball,  done a fair bit of circuit training, spent money on exercise equipment and exercise dvds as well as followed various diets and whilst I saw some small results now the weight loss [...]
